Why Sci-fi is my favourite HWS restaurant.
Hands down my favorite place to eat in Hollywood Studios is the Sci-fi drive-in. Both times we have eaten there we had different weather. It was a great break from the heat, and a cozy place when we were freezing. Not to mention sleeping kids stay asleep in a stroller in there and awake ones like the movies and cars.
There is nothing I like more than a small touch. We love the welcome back card, a small note like this is the kind of stuff I love. Even though they put Devan I did keep this and even my Mom thought it was a nice touch.
Every parent with small children knows that restaurant seating can either make or break your meal. Sometimes kids have the ability to get in and out of their chair and want to go for a nice walk. For smaller kids that are too big for a high chair or even toddlers, the bench seating gives the children room without the fear of falling off a chair. We each took a child in a row and that locked them in since there is only one way into the row. Score. My daughter was able to stand and not block the screen from other restaurant goers and they were mesmerized by everything that was going on.
We used the dining plan and I was actually surprised at the drink I was able to get. It wasn't cheap. Not only was this drink very much needed at this point in the day, but it also came with a flashing ice cube that kept my daughter busy for the rest of the day. Not to mention it tasted great!
I am not the biggest meat eater, so I enjoy finding a yummy vegetarian option. I really enjoyed the caprese sandwich and my daughter loved sharing it with me. My son ordered the kids Mac and Cheese which didn't stand a chance. The portion was large enough to share with his sister. Plus he also was given fries.
To be completely honest I can't remember what my husband ordered since he was behind me. He obviously enjoyed it since he ate the whole thing and didn't offer me any.
I rounded out my meal with a sundae that was so delicious. I have never eaten so many desserts, but the meal plan made me do it. My son's dessert was icecream with sprinkles. Both get two thumbs up. Thank goodness I was there to run a marathon because I had calories to spare.
That view! I love the vibe of this restaurant. I will note, my 3 year old son got alittle scared of one monster the first time around. The video plays on a cycle so you will see repeats. I wish they actually played an old cartoon or something that was long. Or because it was Christmas they played some monster holiday movie. That's probably my only complaint about the place. I will return next time we visit Hollywood Studios and we order that drink again for sure.
