How I Organized our Playroom

How all of our boardgames were stored “before”

One thing that happens when kids get older is they have more stuff. I try my hardest to be a minimalist, but that goes out the door when Grandparents don’t follow the same philosophy. My husband feels like his Mom should be able to “spoil” the kids ALOT, and that would be all fine and dandy if he cleaned up all those spoils. lol. So thats left to me, and I was determined to get it organized! I am trying to teach my kids that they need to put things in their proper place, but the problem was I didn’t have a proper place for most of the stuff. I got two different sizes of these bags and used the larger ones for all our games in boxes. Will use the smaller ones for puzzle pieces

I ordered these large bags to place all of our board games in and educational games in. I was shocked by the amount of space I saved and the amount of cardboard that I was able to recycle. This simple organization tip alone is one that I highly recommend. Two cluttered boxes were able to be put into one. Everything is easy to see and open/shut.i cut out the name of the game from the box and taped it with packing tape on the front of the pouch. Now games can travel if they have toor easier be donated in a nice neat pouch.

Next I bought these recyclable clear totes for even more easy access to the smaller games and items. They are stackable and light. Perfect for storing smaller items. I cut out any names that were on boxes and taped them on the outside, just like bags. Simple and easy. Being able to see inside the boxes hopefully prevents the kids from dumping till they find what they want. I will label the rest of the boxes tomorrow.

Great way for kids to see what's in something without dumping the entire thing

Lego is always a fun thing to store and step on. Ha! I always think of that scene in Lego Movie 2 when the Mom compares stepping on Lego to childbirth So I decided to make it a fun storage container and we store them in Lego bricks. All the Lego people (which I hate losing) are all in a display case. Well, the important Lego people are.

And there you have it folks. Just some of my latest tips to get everything in a place. I can't tell you how much lighter that play room feels with 12 or more less boxes. Things like that really add up and can clutter up a space.
