Derby baby shower inspiration

We recently were able to celebrate our beautiful friend Bree and her future baby girl. Bree is an easy going and fun girl and we wanted her shower to reflect that. So her bestie decided to throw her a DERBY SHOWER. I thought I would share a few of the photos from the shower, and I hope it inspires you in the future. This shower was held at an actual race track, and a corner suite which really made it special, but who says you can't do the same in your backyard or home.

Nothing says "baby girl" like pink. I feel the best way to incorporate the colour is to use many different shades of it. This is all tied together with the ombré frosting of the beautiful cake. The gifting table had so many shades of pink and the cake brought them all together. One shade of pink can be overwhelming. Throw in multiple shades and some neutral colours, and you have yourself a nice relaxing colour scheme.

The darker pink at the bottom really made you notice the whole cake, and the way the cake was frosted was just perfect. This is a skill I would love to learn one day and really envy those that cake make a cake like this.

The gifting table was a "presentation shower", which means we didn't wrap anything, and we actually didn't even open gifts at the shower. We used cloth pegs to put some onesies on a rope.

The race track gave out suite passes that had the name of the shower on them. Also a great reminder and small token for the mother to be to take home.

Our friend went to Home Goods and purchased alot of the horse themed decor.

The multiple shades of pink theme was even carried in the floral arrangements. White flowers help to break them up, and they were stunning and lasted in the Florida heat.

A beautiful frame is a simple take him gift for the mother to be. Simply head to Walgreens and print out a copy of the shower invite and frame it. Sentimental and simple.

The centre piece for the gifting table was my something I made myself. All of the items needed for the diaper cake were purchased at a craft store. They literally sell diaper cake circles to use as a guide. I covered the top of the moulds with astroturf (purchased for under $10 at Lowe's) to really give it them Derby feel. The ribbon, fake flowers, horse, fencing, moulds, and the wire to hold the diapers and onesies in place were all purchased at Michael's. So it's one stop shopping. My friend happened to have a wine box at home, so we used that to really give the table some height. The cake bottom was one pack of size 1 diapers, middle was 6 onesies, and the top was wash clothes. All could be used right after since they weren't rolled, I find it hard to use diapers when people roll them individually to make a diaper cake.

Of course a Derby shower wouldn't be complete without Derby hats and dresses. This shower theme was tied together by the wonderful participation of the invited guests. No one didn't go full theme. It was awesome.

So I hope these photos inspire you to throw your own Derby baby shower!
